A question about the universe.

So is the game randomly generated? or are the location of planets the same but different every time? or is it just a massive place the devs built? thanks for your help.

Randomly-generated from the same initial seed, so it looks the same on every run. Then on top of that there's some hardcoded stuff (eg our solar system, real-life bright stars, etc) to make it feel like the galaxy we know and love.
