<t>Hey there folks - I'm sure those of you who were about on the old forums & page recall me, but for those who have popped round since then, I'm "Gunbladelad" - I've been playing space sims for a good long while now.<br/>

While most of my gameplay time has gone into classics like Frontier ...

RE: Mostly Harmless
My apologies to anyone who's been wanting to connect to the server in recent months - between work and various real-life situations, I've not been able to keep the server running.
(and yes, I have finally only just got back onto SSC since the host change...)

RE: Mysterious Activity on Titan
I'm interested as well.I've spotted some rather odd things in the sky in the past - but nothing I could definitively argue was a UFO. Plenty of weird stuff just seems to happen around me, however. Not too sure why that is.

RE: Why do you play space sims?
I really got into them thanks to Frontier : Elite 2.The knowledge that I could explore endlessly doing essentially whatever I wanted really appealed to me. It still does, even though most space sims are massively smaller than FE2 was in terms of exploration area.

If any of you are still playing this, the server should (hopefully) be up & running again. According to the Global Server Workaround page it should be visible, but I'll be watching for anyone other than myself connecting to be sure.

RE: The secret
On a slightly related note, the other day I did find a legitimate copy of the Bonus CD & DVD in a local charity shop for 50 pence. A very nice find for myself - I've had access to the DVD files before through "other" means in the past - but I'm quite happy to have the real thing now.

RE: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Official Trailer)
<t>I've been to see it - and all I'll say is that there's only a holographic representation of the new movies' Sith lord character - so whether that representation is real or not is still up for interpretation - so my theory about Luke being an antagonist is still open after watching the film.If you ...

RE: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Official Trailer)
<t>Here's hoping they brought armour that could withstand twigs and polystyrene boulders, lol. While things are guarded as hell just now, I'm guessing Luke Skywalker will be the main antagonist in the new movie. After all, Mark Hamill is in the credits and Luke's face is obscured on the movie poster ...

<t>I know it's been a long time coming, but I believe that the Dam K'Vosh left the Nomads in the Sirius sector to hibernate then grow at their own pace, but created others of the same (or related) species in other areas of space. If memory serves me correctly, a Rheinland exphidition is the first to ...

RE: looking for a geo political space simulator
<t>Freelancer had something of a basic political back-story to it, and the older Elite games have both official and fan fiction covering the various political factions.Long story short, the Elite series has 2 main political groups - the federation & the Empire. There's also (in First Encounters) a ...

RE: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Official Trailer)
I'm guessing that the film could go either way at this point. I just hope that Abrams goes much easier on the lens flare this time round. For most of the Star Trek reboots he did you couldn't see anything but lens flares, lol.

<t>What I did long ago was install the Freelancer demo as well as copying the full version of Freelancer - and then merely copy the files from the main install of Freelancer into the demo's folder. From there I simply installed the mods to the relevant directories. The catch is that you'll have to ...

<t>Just a small update on the server folks (albeit quite some time too late) - there seems to be some kind of foul-up on my connection which is preventing any servers I host (others as well as flserver) from being visible online - despite the games that use those servers working fine. My ISP claims ...

Supermoon eclipse tonight
<t>Just a wee reminder for those of you who may have missed it. There's a "Supermoon Eclipse" tonight after 1am GMT (peaks sometime after 3am if memory serves me correctly) - the first in 33 years. It's visible from most of the western Hemisphere (clear skies permitting) and the moon should turn red ...

RE: Aquanox: Deep Descent
I remember a friend had the first one on PC - I thought it looked interesting, but never got it myself.Thinking back though it looked like it played a lot like Freelancer (which I got into a while after that friend moved away)
