Have a look at the wiki. ah yes, it makes sense now. I used to thing blender was stupid. It turns out it is just ultra logical and I am stupid.

Ugh I detest Blender because of it's interface, a million ways to do everything, not one that works.yeah but for someone who has no idea about anything I'll take as many ways to do nothing as possible

@mike, are you using the blender ui or the maya? my version of blender is views are above each other not side by side? I can't fiddle with it at the mo as I don't have it on my work latop. But will shortly! EDIT - Ignore me I have sorted it.
