Simplex noise is faster than the standard Perlin noise: simplexnoise.pdf. If I remember correctly, Perlin noise interpolates between the vertices of a hypercube, while simplex noise does the same for ...

RE: Joystick control, pitch back-to-front?
The price of contributing is eternal maintenance. Joking
Sure, I can write it next weekend. I haven't had the need for a dead zone with my joysticks, but I've seen that many games have support for them, it's a good idea to have it in Pioneer too.

<r>It's good that it's not us who have to make the ultimate decision <E>;-)</E> No, personally I don't mind artistic license, be it in nebulae, visible lasers or sounds in space. But I think overly colourful or overly big nebulae would be out of place for a simulator which strives to be realistic in ...

<t>True, but even in a spacecraft it's often hard to see stars, let alone nebulae.See for example the log from Apollo 8: http://history.nasa.gov/ap08fj/12day3_lunar_encounter.htm time 069:05:47.To see nebulae and stars clearly, you would probably have to turn off all your bridge/cockpit ...

<r>m4r35n357: Great, I'm glad that it works for you. I based this method of axis mapping on how it works in IL-2: Sturmovik. It's quite flexible, but I suppose that it's also somewhat non-intuitive at first.Marcel: I'm guessing that you're using Alpha 7. Joystick support is a very recent feature, I ...

I loved WC4 for the videos. If you pasted them together, they would stand on their own as an exceptional movie. The atmosphere was very convincing and the story and dialogue were intelligent and mature, which cannot be said for WC3 or WCP. Truly a gem, this one.

RE: Joystick control, pitch back-to-front?
<t>I'm the guy who wrote the joystick code. With my joystick (CH combatstick) the defaults were OK, not sure if this is the same for every joystick; I wonder which way is more prevalent. For now, you can go to the options screen with key mappings, and remap the pitch axis by moving the joystick in ...
