Looks a lot like Project Overkill

RE: Is there any known fix for the text issues?
<t>Hey DarkOne. I was just on my way to post that I figured out the problem. To answer your question though, I'm using the latest version from the 3030 Deathwar site which seems to be more updated than the one with clgmod (unless I'm reading that wrong). I might check out that other version to see ...

Is there any known fix for the text issues?
<t>I'm trying to run this on Win 7 Home Premium, and having the garbled text issues that were apparently limited to Win 8 and Win 7 Ultimate (I guess home premium might just be ultimate with a different label, though). Is there any known fix for this, or at least a known cause? Also another issue ...

Looks like the first real attempt at an FTL successor. And doesn't look half bad either. Would like to see more ship variety, though. They only showed 2 there?

Hmm, the whole Spaceforce: Captains fiasco left a bad taste in my mouth. Speaking of which, what happened to that title? It's nowhere on your site. Have you chosen to forget about it? Was there some legal issues about it? Now I'm really curious.

If you had another 1 gig of RAM you could probably play EVE on low settings. Aside from that, I don't know what you can do because 1 gig of RAM is nothing, and that will not be adequate for any modern MMOs, even 2D ones.

<t>As for owning stations I think the only other space trading game which has this is Eve, other wise you looking at 4X/RTS games.Flatspace has that. It's unfortunately lacking in other features though... Then there's Spaceforce: Captains which has modular stations but was a trainwreck release that ...

RE: Gangs of Space - 4X MMO Shmup
Looks neat. But is there a PvE element? Just wondering since I tend to play EVE solo, and it's nice that there's a lot to do besides for PvP while the game is still largely player driven.

If that isn't wip3out inspired, I don't know what is. Even the music and sound effects are similar. That's cool though. It was a great game.

Looks a bit like those "swarm defense" games I've seen (like Planets Under Attack) though I have a feeling that's not what it is. A short example game would be awesome, just to give a better idea of how the game plays out.

RE: Star Rift
It's unclear what this game is supposed to be. "We wanted the game to be about depth, and color" doesn't really explain anything and the only gameplay shown is one ship flying around asteroids and planets shooting a laser at nothing. So... more info coming soon hopefully.

RE: Demo Available and a New Version
<t>Could be a good game, but seems very buggy. I'd even say unplayable. It's version 1.1 like it says here, should be the latest. Targeting is weird, like why can I target 2 things at once? I want to scan a planet but at the end of the scan an asteroid image shows up and it shows me the composition ...

<t>I haven't played the previous ones, but I've been semi-following this one and it looks good. That said, I will probably wait until when I overhaul my machine in the fall with the new Haswell-E and GTX 880 before I buy this, as the graphics seem like most of the draw (though they look a little ...

RE: EVE update from new player
<t>There comes a point of saturation over 10 years where the devs put out patches to appease the main crowd, and the original focus is lost.Which is what, hardcore PvP in a single server? They seem to still be doing that thing. Although it is generally safe in .5 and up space, it takes 3 months of ...

Loving the animations. The shield reacting to collisions and the thrusters when turning/strafing look really nice. Is exploration going to be deep and meaningful or is that just a term you use for uncovering different areas?

I don't have anything terribly creative to say... just that if I find the gameplay to be interesting I will end up playing it to exhaustion. So if nothing else, they can expect feedback.

RE: SPAZ 2
<t>I played the first SPAZ and thought it was quite fun, especially given the relative lack of games in the genre and its low price. The big difference here seems to be that SPAZ 2 is in 3d. What I don't understand though, is WHY WHY WHY do they restrict the movements of ships to a plane? Doesn't ...

<t>Looks like another time-based empire building game which requires heinous amounts of RL cash to do anything in a reasonable time. Like Lucana Expanse. Funny when looking for information about this game, google mostly comes up with referal links (like this one) and no actual info. Pretty obvious ...

But neg's are mostly that it lacks much of the SMAC atmosphere. Wasn't that like the #1 reason to play Alpha Centauri? So what are the positives?
