Quick question when you say mist realistic Milky Way - does this mean that as far as possible you've tried to recreate digitally the milky way star systems... if so How many did you recreate? (Impressive work whatever)<br/>
Well, it is based on Nasa photographs...so all ...

RE: Unstable Space Beta Released

<t>To tell the truth the graphics are not really updated, except for the main Milky Way skybox. It is probably the biggest, mist realistic skybox every used in a Space Sim. Unfortunately, it is so big that it causes a lot of peoples' games to lock up, so I highly recommend using the 'low-res ...

RE: Unstable Space Beta Released

That first shot shows a sample of one of the custom cockpits I was making for each ship in the game. I pulled that feature from the Beta, as it is incomplete. I may add it as a mod for Unstable Space, finished or not.

Unstable Space Beta Released

<t>For anyone still interested, I have managed to, over the past 4 months, figure out how to code, and have patched together a working version of the Unstable Space beta. Feel free to head on over to Torn-stars.com and try it out. Be warned that after years of working alone on this thing, I am ...

RE: I-WAR 2 Torn Stars

I may just have to keep advertising the fact that there is a very cool mod, very near completion, that just needs a little coding expertise to wrap up. Maybe someone out there might have the skills and desire to lend a hand. This is the site, if any, where such a person would be found.

RE: I-WAR 2 Torn Stars

<t>I am the only developer left, and not a coder. The final version of US requires a chunk of dynamic NPC ai code to be completed. It is about 75% done. But it is not done. I am vainly holding out hope that one of our retired coders will wrap it up one day, but hopes are dwindling. Eventually I will ...

RE: SpaceSimCentral Opinions

<t>I like the site, and enjoy reading posts and jumping into conversations. One thought I have been having, is that the site seems a little spread out. Is too much being covered? It is called Space Sim Central, but there are plenty of games that don't fit that definition. And what is that definition ...

<t>I would like a small, fairly low tech setting, say in the moons around a Gas giant somewhere, or within our own system.I would like every inch of this small setting detailed. Meaning interior of ships, stations, and any surfaces bases. Everything (hence the small setting size).I would like ...

NucNuc, what is this 'downloader' that you have mentioned several times? Also, torn-stars.com doesn't have a captcha for downloads, yet you couldn't download it from there, correct?

RE: Which Star Wars movie is the best?

<t>Sadly, I don't think JarJar was the worst part of episode I. He was just the easiest to hate. There were plenty of worse scenes. One that particularly ruined it for me was the ridiculous underwater journey in which several alien sea creatures attempt to eat the Jedis' craft and are in turn eaten ...

RE: I-WAR 2 Torn Stars

That is very weird. There might be something wrong with your provider. Perhaps it can't handle certain filetypes? I take it you were able to download the installer?

RE: Keyboard/Mouse or Joystick

<t>I think we are also looking at the difference between 'games' and 'simulations' here. Games are focusing on gameplay, and simulations are simulating some kind of real world experience. Games sacrifice reality for game mechanics, where as simulations might do the opposite. Most obviously though ...

There is a new file in the 'Torn Stars Core Files' area. There is no guarantee as to whether it will work, and has only been offered as a solution for those unable to install with the normal installer

RE: I-WAR 2 Torn Stars

<t>Sorry, I missed the opening post of this thread...Yes, Nucnuc is correct. There has been an ongoing issue with the original Torn Stars installer. For an unknown reason, some setups cannot get the installer to work. We still do not know why, but I suspect it is related to windows rather that the ...

<t>I am little confused...any joypads, which include some logitech, saitek, microsoft x360, and ps2 controllers and a few others, that I have ever used, are completely interchangable with joysticks in any games I have played. As an example, when playing I-war, my Logitech Wingmen automatically sets ...

RE: Keyboard/Mouse or Joystick

<t>Not to rain on anyone's parade, or cast disparaging remarks, but I had just the opposite reaction with Freelancer. I had awaited the game, in semi isolation, for several years, pinning my hopes on it being the next great space sim. Then, I heard the talk of mouse only controls and was..confused ...
