RE: POLL: Ship Designs
I really like number 1. Looks like some kind of atmospheric-flight capable freighter or shuttle or something I'd really like to fly in a privateer-type game. Aaaaand I like fins and a few curves on my ships.

RE: Base building or Mothership?
<t>This question isn't really a case of what is better than the other - both approaches have their own advantages and disadvantages and lend themselves to slightly different gameplay styles. Depends on the story as well... if the long term goal is to conquer and secure sectors one after the other ...

RE: Sensors / Stealth / Recon
<t>Another neat feature loosely related to sensors and stealth might be indirect fire abilities for things like long-range missiles. I'm thinking of a stealthed recon ship scouting the enemy fleet behind the asteroid field enabling your missile cruisers to fire some guided long-range missiles around ...

Sensors / Stealth / Recon
<t>Any plans yet how to tackle the subject of reconnaisance? Will we be able to hide our ships in asteroid fields or space nebulae? Will there be dedicated recon ships with enhanced sensors (e.g. much larger range, detail information revelead much earlier, etc.) or maybe sensor jammers and the likes ...

RE: The major factor
<t>Voted for large scale this time... but yeah, tough choice. I like both systems. Thinking back about Supreme Commander I'd usually set up multiple factories over time with each one constructing units on an endless loop. There'd be a constant stream of fresh units coming out of my production ...

RE: Shallow Space - a 3D RTS
<r>Just don't get too overambitious and fall victim to feature creep, okay? At one point you gotta limit the game's mechanics and polish the hell out of what you've got or it's never going to be finished, because there's always more you could add. And I don't want to see that happening with Shallow ...

RE: Shallow Space - a 3D RTS
<t>I'm wondering about the campaign you're going for. It's obviously going to be story-based, but also a bit sandboxy with optional side quests and stuff to do outside the main storyline. Will there be a strategic map giving you a choice about which sector to approach next or will that be purely ...
