RE: Space Nerds In Space
<t>No, I was running the game at 30 fps. It was only recently that the game can even try to run at 60 fps (surprisingly to me, it seems to work ok at 60fps, mostly, though there are a few things that don't behave quite right because some bits of code for various slerping times, etc. still assume 30 ...

RE: Space Nerds In Space
Maybe the stuttering is because I recorded on my desktop which doesn't have an SSD, and also I added some stuff into the atmosphere shader lately. With OBS running, maybe it can't quite keep up now in all cases. If OBS isn't running it seems fine though.

RE: Space Nerds In Space
<t>Some stations are more fun than others. Navigation and weapons are probably the most fun. Science isn't too bad, but it's basically scanning, which is selecting ships (so navigation can know where they are, and so weapons can know what phaser wavelength will be effective). Comms is kind of weak ...

How about some sort of "Recently updated threads" link?
<t>The way the forum is now, if someone updates a thread, there's basically no way to notice it other than to go manually digging around for it. Discoverability is pretty terrible.<br/>
<br/>
For example, unless you explicitly go digging around in "Free SciFi Gaming Projects", you're not going to ...

RE: Hello, I'm new here
If I had to give it a percentage completion.... hmm, not sure. I'll say 90%. So if the first 90 percent of the code accounts for the first 90 percent of the development time and the remaining 10 percent will take the 2nd 90% ... so another 5 years should do it, heh.

<r>Small update. Main new thing is a tow truck service has been implemented for those times when you run out of gas out in deep space, and an EMF detector added to the Comms screen to give early warnings about imminent attacks. <YOUTUBE id="_KO6T3UXozI"><s>[media]</s>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v ...

<r>More progress on the speech recognition front. I figured out how to give pocketsphinx a custom vocabulary which improves its accuracy considerably, and I wrote some code to convert written out numbers like "two hundred thirty eight" to "238" which enables a lot of things. <YOUTUBE id="3EZNzcF4_4g ...
