RE: Afar across the universe (retrospective to alpha8)
<t> are you nuts gernot?(who to the heck is "zzz", "xxx" or "yyy"? such makes me curious "zzz" could be "ts, ts, ts" as wellbut it could be also homer doing his favorite daytime job, or the prof. of futurama... "zzzzzzzz erm what?") I just wanted to download stuff and for that reason I chose a name ...

RE: Afar across the universe (retrospective to alpha8)
<r>Sorry for interrupting, but the ship velocity is set relative to your target? Why did it change in the later builds? It should rather be possible to switch between planets, spacestations and targets. I like the alpha8 buildings more than the skyscrapers. They look far more futuristic. I like the high ...

RE: Combat - where is it going?
<t>And if you try to make rules different for player and the AI (for example by nerfing AI's damage, accuracy, or so on) then you have already failed at making any sort of believable world Every AI opponent in game shoots you with pin point accuracy because he has this weapon autopilot like you in ...

RE: Pioneer - where is it going?
<t>@fluffyfreak Sorry that you are upset. I realized it's so quiet here the last weeks and I don't want this project becomes neglected. So I took my chance. You know everybody wants to make "his"/"her" game to be made.If I were a programmer I would go for it for myself and make a mod to see if my ...

Pioneer - where is it going?
<r>A smart man once said, don't speak out the obvious it makes you look dumb. I do it anyway: Pioneer is a great game and there are for sure many cool indie space game projects out there which also are,but I'm afraid the most of them will become obsolete when Elite: Dangerous' retail version will ...

RE: Combat - where is it going?
<r>GernotIt's funny I have a similar approach. I play the game like it is set in a fictive early era of space exploration. There is no autopilot and I fly my ship only with about 1g acceleration to it's destination.Ship thrusters produce only so much g-forces a fighter pilot today can sustain. I want ...

RE: Combat - where is it going?
<t>@Gernotstill there doesn't have to be one pioneer But you need at least one Pioneer that is functioning. @Gernoteven your statement could be interpreted different. i hear in it something like: "what counts is a little bit of realism as far as sci-fi could be, story i write my own"someone else ...

RE: Combat - where is it going?
<t>The flight control with a xbox controller is really, really good.It seems it's even better than SC's Arena Commander.(from a glimpse of YT videos)But the combat isn't. I don't say that my suggestions are the solution for a great dogfighting experience so it's the best to try out several mechanics ...

RE: Combat - where is it going?
<t>It doesn't matter how you look at it combat isn't fun or challenging. It is beyond my imagination how players here are able to defeat an enemy with near equal weaponry. No way!The AI hits you because it has autopilot and you don't.So make weapons which you can hit easier or dumb the AI accuracy ...

RE: Combat - where is it going?
<r>For dogfighting I also suggest multiple high acceleratd projectiles instead of this big and slow laser? shots/bolts like ingame. It's more effective in reality (velocity of a projectile is more important than its mass) and it would be more effective in Pioneer. With a very little spread of your ...
