Real future spaceships probably wouldn't have traditional cockpits anyway. And we don't need transparent cockpits, we've got a camera.

Beautiful. It's amazing how much a difference these changes make. Atmosphere looks much cleaner and I love the city lighting changes. I couldn't get the .dll files to work with alpha 30 dev, however, using just the shader files makes a large difference. Thanks shadmar for all your hardwork.

Nevermind!! Fixed it. As soon as you pointed out that opengl file I saw the config next to it. opened the config and played with several options and narrowed it down to shaders needing to be disabled. I apologize for wasting your time with this noobish question.
