Alienware's new curved monitorThis thing is bad ass. Not sure how much that monitor will be since it isn't released yet but I would probably guess $2500+, Alienware products are generally expensive but hey they have a payment plan options and there is always the 2010 tax return refund
And as a added bonus it is showing off using Jumpgate Evolution Let's start the Space Sim revolution and show everyone that Space Sims are alive and well. Tell a friend about Space Sim Central and discuss the old and the new of Space Sims.
Re: Alienware's new curved monitorDear Mr Santa, can I has one?
1- Don't get jammed!
2- Stationary targets don't react well to 1400's
Re: Alienware's new curved monitorIf Mr. Santa can find that thing for under $2000 it might just be seen under this years Xmas tree

Re: Alienware's new curved monitorFound another video of the Alienware curved monitor
And it is also showing off JGE. Let's start the Space Sim revolution and show everyone that Space Sims are alive and well. Tell a friend about Space Sim Central and discuss the old and the new of Space Sims.
Re: Alienware's new curved monitorMan this thing would rock for the sim-pit I plan to build...

Re: Alienware's new curved monitorWhen you build it I want pics and total cost

Re: Alienware's new curved monitorDon't hold your breath... I'm in the process of moving. I should start working on some sort of a plan this fall.

Re: Alienware's new curved monitorJust to give you an idea, this is the sim-pit I plan to build:
Akers-Barnes Mk I Flying Furniture Made out of two 4'x8' boards, this cockpit is dirt cheap, portable, customizable, and just plain practical. Like the builder on this site I downloaded the complete plans at the same Australian site (62nd Fighting Falcons) and in about 2 days total you can gather the ressources, start cutting, paint, assemble, and fly. Just FYI I use a Saitek X52 FCS when piloting flight/space sims, and I'll probably add a ledge so I can attach my Wingman Force GP wheel for race sims (I'm a huge rFactor freak!). I already have a rather nice 22in widescreen monitor, but I will have to get a proper surround-sound setup that's not too expensive and sounds good. Adding something like that Alienware monster would be awesome though! Now that I'll have a basement again I should be able to build the thing before Santa starts dropping his wrapped bombs 1- Don't get jammed!

Re: Alienware's new curved monitorI thought of this concept yeeeeeeaaars ago!to help with the lack of peripheral vision in 1st person shooters. that's another cracking idea and my chance of millions lost again
i also thought of advertising on public transport tickets years before i saw the first one. stick on tabs for Christmas lights to enable you to mount them in PVC window frames. and many others but just don't know what to do with the idea once its created in the old gray matter Ive witnessed what happens to people who come up with new ideas/inventions and pump their life savings into it on dragons den. if you get told "no thanks" you are screwed! Re: Alienware's new curved monitorI don't get it...what's the big deal with the curve? Nobody will sit close enough to a monitor that size for peripheral vision to come into play. Seems like a gimmick to me. Sure it's a nice monitor all the same.
Re: Alienware's new curved monitorThat's a big ass screen ...... too big if you ask me, but cool. However for that price I'll get myself a huge HD-TV and plug it to my pc ......... INSTANT home cinema gaming experience
Re: Alienware's new curved monitorI see the concept though, the monitor is just big enough to fit a desk and not be so big your eyes would bug out
I know me personally, if I had the extra cash I would just get 3x23" LCD's and put them together, much cheaper. I know my Acer (1920x1080) only cost me $219 on NewEgg on sale. So less than $700 you could have a sweet setup. But watching Jumpgate Evolution on that beast does look good.
