From a lot of the screenshots and videos that I have seen of Shattered Origins, wingmen play a big part in the game and would like to discuss what the wingmen can/cannot do.

From the latest post on Moddb, LordCrusare and his crew has revamped the control system. Now looking at this shot here:

You can now select which ship you want to jump into more easily during the mission. In the screenshot about when you mouse-over say a wingmen or select them will you get any ship stats? Because i remember you can individually loadout each wingmen and you could forget what ship is equipped with what.

Now on some tactics and what roles can your wingmen play in a mission. Let's use this screenshot for an example:

I know this is a traders ship in the pic but if it was a enemy cruiser, could you give each of your wingmen assignments to concentrate on taking out forward guns, shield generators, engines, etc? This type of functionality in the wingmen could really enhance gameplay and make you rely on your wingmen to accomplish the tasks.

Your providing a great concept of being able to control multiple wingmen or jump into different ships during battle and to have more control on what the wingmen do is probably necessary.

Of course. Since switching can be done infinite times while the game is paused, you can select any ship, view its HP, cooldown, whether it has any special abilities equipped, are they in use and the weapon the ship is carrying.

When you switch to a ship and resume the gameplay, you fly your current ship. Let's say you start shooting an enemy. Now, when you switch away to a different ship, the AI will continue where you left off and will continue to shoot your target. In most cases, it doesn't matter which part of a ship you shoot, but in case of huge Cruisers, you might want to take out its turrets, in which case the same principle applies: you start shooting a turret, you switch away, the AI continues.
Furthermore, the AI has additional logics implemented, for example a damaged ship will evade most enemy shots and will try to get behind your other ships to not get shot down. However, if the AI detects that the firepower of the retreating ship is also required, then the ship won't flee, but instead, fight till the end. Of course as a player, you can override this as well :) . We are providing many-many tactical options so that even your allied ships not directly controlled by you will act exactly as you want them to.
